Cultural volunteering
Volunteering is a great way of getting involved in culture (which we take in the broadest sense to include the visual and performing arts, built and natural environment, heritage, libraries, media, museums, play, sport, tourism and informal leisure pursuits). Torbay Community Development Trust has been commissioned by TDA and Torbay Culture Board to undertake a scoping study to develop a joined-up and sustainable cultural volunteering ‘offer’ in the Bay. If you work with volunteers, or you volunteer yourself, and you’d like to take part in the research, please contact Nicola Frost: . The study has now started and should be completed by the end of October, with the findings shared at a public event - so watch this space!
The third Torbay Culture Forum takes place on Tuesday 20 October from 10 am to 4 pm at the Riviera International Centre, Torquay.
Culture: Learning well is organised in partnership with RIO, Play Torbay and the Youth Cultural Partnership, Torbay and will explore creative and cultural learning, in both formal and informal settings. There’ll be project presentations, information on key changes to children and young people’s service delivery in the Bay, opportunities to make new contacts, generate ideas, plan exciting work... and meet Kate Farmery, the new Executive Director, Torbay Culture Board. This post, funded by Arts Council England and hosted by the TDA, provides executive leadership and direction for the implementation of Enjoy, talk, do, be... and its rolling three year delivery plan.
