1st Friday Breakfast Networking Meeting

The next 1st Friday breakfast networking meeting is on 4 May 2012 at the Innovation Centre in Paignton. The guest speaker is Wayne Thomas, a lecturer in management, IT and business short courses at South Devon College.

Torbay Council's economic development company, Torbay Development Agency, host regular Friday networking meetings as part of a programme of events designed to help local businesses develop and grow.

Wayne enjoyed a prestigious career in the Royal Navy, heading up a section of 400 staff, and instructed in management, administration, leadership and warfare to Naval forces from around the world. Since joining the College, he has trained many local businesses in a range of management and business short courses, including Paignton Zoo, Centrax, Fairford Electronics Ltd, EMC, Valeport and Mid Devon Council.

Wayne will be talking about leadership skills including organisational culture, motivation and 'learning through geese' - the power of teamwork.

The agenda for 4th May at Paignton is:

  • 8.30 - Arrive, refreshments and networking
  • 9.10 - Welcome, Adrian Sheen, Torbay Development Agency's Innovation Centre Manager
  • 9.15 - Leadership Skills - Wayne Thomas
  • 9.35 - Networking
  • 10.00 - CLOSE

Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver said: "All businesses from Torbay and the surrounding are welcome to attend our Friday networking events at our successful Innovations Centres. This is a great chance for local business to meet each other and hear some interesting presentations from a varied programme of leading business people."
