With demand for office space high at the Court – just two offices are currently vacant - a decision has been made by the South West Innovation Centres to provide desk units for the purpose of helping businesses in the early stages of development.

Torbay Development Agency Innovation Centre Manager, Adrian Sheen explained: “We’re providing an unprecedented opportunity for young companies and early stage business start-outs, particularly those in creative and media related industries. We’ve been delighted with the take-up of office space and as such have decided to include space for desk units, providing friendly, flexible and affordable workspace designed to stimulate enterprise. Businesses taking desk space will pay an all inclusive rent of just £160 a month with only their telephone calls extra.”

And he explained that other benefits for tenants include free access to business support, a PR service for media exposure, use of meeting rooms, free monthly network meetings and easy in, easy out terms, all factors designed to help companies grow.

Cockington Court recently underwent extensive renovation at a cost of £2.85m, transforming the former aristocratic home into office space, craft studios and newly constructed shop units.

The South West Innovation Centres are operated by TDA on behalf of the Council to provide incubation space for new and growing businesses.
