SW Innovations Centres help creative agency increase turnover

Torbay Development Agency (TDA), through its South West Innovation Centres (SWIC), has helped a Torquay business increase its turnover by 20 per cent year on year.

Insignia Creative moved into the Torquay Innovation Centre (operated by Torbay Council’s economic development agency, the TDA) three years ago from offices in Newton Abbot.

The website and graphic design company is run by Richard Netherclift and Peter Blackler who spent several months looking for the ideal office space and have since moved twice into larger offices at the Lymington Road Innovations Centre.

Richard said: “We have clients in Plymouth, Exeter, Newton Abbot and further afield and the transport links and the Kingskerswell Road were a concern,. Newton Abbot where we were based was much more central.

“But after looking at several places, the Innovation Centre in Torquay was the best office space we found. I’m very glad we did move here, it’s definitely benefitted us.”

Since moving into the Innovations Centre, Insignia Creative has gained much business through working with other companies in the Centre, helping to dramatically increase turnover.

Richard added: “We do a lot of work for other companies in the Innovation Centre – we’ve definitely gained a lot of business through being here; the atmosphere is very good between all the offices, we say hello to everyone and the location is very easy to find for people. We especially like the regular network meetings and have picked up a lot of work through them.”

The South West Innovation Centres are operated by TDA on behalf of the Council to provide incubation space for new and growing businesses.
