Spirent's Positioning Chief becomes Chair of Torbay Hi Tech Forum

Martin Foulger, Divisional MD of Spirent Communications Global Positioning division in Paignton is the new Chair of the Torbay Hi Tech Forum, taking over from outgoing Chair Jason Buck, of the Torbay Development Agency (TDA).

Spirent’s Positioning division is a world leader in the provision of GNSS (Global Satellite Navigation Systems) simulation systems for satellite navigation and positioning testing, a position that the company has consistently held for 20 years.

Martin said: "I am delighted to take over the reins for this important next stage of growth for the Torbay Hi Tech Forum. The Forum is keen to continue to look at expanding the local supply chain, working with the local college and universities to ensure our skills needs as employers are being met, and the talented individuals within our local workforce are able to engage with us so they can see the excellent career opportunities that exist right here in Torbay. We also hope to continue to work with the TDA on sharpening the investment offer for the sector and ensuring the environment is right for encouraging more investment."

Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural Manufacturing, Technology & Innovation event, the Forum recently announced MTI ‘12 is to be held on 18th October at the Riviera International Conference Centre with an increased exhibition space and more time for networking.

Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver said: "Advanced Manufacturing is an important sector for Torbay, and it is a central aim of the Council, TDA and our local and regional partners to generate a first-class environment for its continued growth and success."

The Torbay Development Agency will shortly be undertaking a marketing campaign to the Advanced Electronics sector, highlighting the R & D, quality of life and business class credentials of Torbay as an investment location. The marketing will consist of online, business & trade press elements.

"We looked at the feedback from last years delegates and exhibitors and we think enlarging the exhibition and increasing networking time provides even greater business benefits said Jason Buck, Investment Development Manager from the Torbay Development Agency (TDA).
