Nominees from South Devon Businesses and partner organisers from Torbay Development Agency (TDA), Torbay and South Devon Employment and Skills Board and Productive Skills for Devon, enjoyed a celebratory night at the Riviera International Conference Centre in Torquay on the evening of Thursday 17 March 2011.
Winners were announced over 13 categories celebrating excellence in skills and acknowledging outstanding achievements by learners and employers across Torbay, Teignbridge and the South Hams.
Individual Categories:
- Achieving Skills for Life – Julie Horne, Care Assistant, Abbeywood Nursing Home
- The Tutor, Trainer or Mentor who most inspires others to learn – Joint winners – Linda Robinson, Manager of Skills for Life, Devon Vocational Training and Jenny Shipton, TLH Leisure Resort.
- The Employee who most inspires others to learn – Phil Smith, KJ Thulborn Contractors and Bicton College.
- Learning against the odds – Carol Frazer, learner at Working Links.
- Young Apprentice of the Year – Matt Westwood, Marine Engineering Apprentice, BT Marine Engineering and South Devon College.
- Apprentice of the Year – Stevie Pull, Apprentice Shop Manager, Churston Farm Shop and Paignton Secretarial College.
- Advanced Apprentice of the Year – Sophie Landry, Apprentice Administration and Support Worker, Steps Charity and Paignton Secretarial College.
