More than £160million is to be invested in new and updated facilities and infrastructure for Torbay, marking the largest ever capital programme to be carried out by Torbay Council.
The four-year programme, includes successful projects already completed/started in the last 12 months and will help to deliver better schools; improved housing and adult social care facilities; new leisure and cultural facilities; better access for customers and initiatives to tackle traffic congestion.
The money comes from a number of sources - including land sales; 'planning agreement' contributions from developers, lottery grants, specific government grants and borrowing funded from a share of householders' council tax bills or future efficiencies.
