Project Investment: £26,000,000
Completion Date: March 2006
Torquay harbourside is widely recognised as the heart of the town and is often referred to as Torquay's 'town square'. A focus for a wide range of maritime activities and businesses, the area is also a hub for restaurants, cafes, specialist shopping and entertainment.
The regeneration comprised three phases of work, the last of which was completed in September 2006 and the result is a transformed waterfront with many new features and a revitalised destination now being enjoyed by a wide range of businesses and users.
The many elements of the development are:
- Cill holding water in the tidal inner harbour
- Stylish harbour footbridge
- Business units on Beacon Quay
- Living Coasts visitor attraction
- Brewer's Fayre family restaurant
- Enhanced quayside facilities for watersports and visiting vessels
- New slipway
- Improved car parking
- Heritage walkway overlooking WWII slipways
- 'Vanishing Point' public art feature
