Established in 2011, the Awards celebrate excellence in skills and acknowledge some of the many outstanding achievements by local individuals and employers over the past year. The coveted Skills Award of the Year at the inaugural event was awarded to TLH Leisure Resort for their strong commitment to the development of their staff.
Organised by Torbay Development Agency with support from Productive Skills for the Heart of the South West, the Awards are part of the TDA’s ongoing commitment to support local enterprise, encourage businesses to develop and grow and to promote skills and workforce development.

  • The Tutor, Trainer or Mentor who most inspires others to learn
  • The Employee who most inspires others to learn
  • Learning Against the Odds
  • Young Apprentice of the Year (age 14-16)
  • Intermediate Level Apprentice of the Year (Level 2)
  • Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year (Level 3+)
  • Success in Skills Leadership and Management

Employer Categories

  • Skills in Micro-Businesses Employer of the Year (1-9 employees)
  • Skills in Small & Medium Businesses Employer of the Year (10-250)
  • Skills in Large Businesses Employer of the Year (250+)
  • Skills in the Third Sector Employer of the Year
Nominations for the awards are now closed.  The awards ceremony will be held on 28 March 2012 at the Riviera Centre.
