The South Devon Link Road project involves the construction of a 5.5km dual carriageway, bypassing Kingskerswell and providing a faster, more reliable and less congested path into Torbay.

The scheme was awarded £76.4 million toward the £110 million cost by the Government and Devon County Council and Torbay Council have committed £33 million from their budgets towards the overall cost. Teignbridge District Council will be contributing a further £500,000

In May 2012, Galliford Try was awarded the contract to build the major new road, which is expected to lead to the creation of nearly 8,000 jobs, nearly 3,600 of them in Torbay.

The £110 million project is expected to deliver massive economic and environmental benefits to the area. Work got underway in October 2012 and the scheme is set for completion by December 2015.
