TDA ignites new Apprentice Partnership with HotSW LEP

1st March 2019

Categories: Latest News

TDA and Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (HotSW LEP) announce a new, shared Digital Apprenticeship to work across both organisations.

Both TDA and the LEP have similar aims which require engagement with businesses across Torbay and the South West on a number of different projects and industry sectors.

Michelle Gruber, HR Business Partner at TDA, said: “Employers look for a range of skills across the workforce and apprenticeships are a way of developing talent. There are many benefits because the apprentice is able to enjoy working with two companies which provides diversity to the apprentice and develops their skills.”

South Devon College will deliver the apprenticeship. The new Level 3 apprenticeship recognises the growing importance of online business messaging through a variety of digital communications such social media, websites and e-newsletters.

Steve Hindley CBE DL, Chair of the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “Raising skills and enabling employees to follow rewarding careers is a key aim of the LEP, and we value the role that apprenticeships have to play in today’s business community, so we’re pleased to be taking on our own.”

Arron Rodger, the partnership’s Digital Apprentice, said: “This is a great opportunity for me to develop my skills working with two exciting businesses on a range of projects. I am looking forward to tackling new challenges and taking the next step in my career.”

Arron is one of many apprentices who is taking part in Torbay’s #ApprenticeTakeover campaign. As part of National Apprenticeship week, this week, businesses are celebrating apprenticeships and letting their apprentice take over the business for the day.

TDA is running a free information seminar on Friday 8 March at the Riviera International Conference Centre. The seminar will present the benefits of apprentices, with local case studies, and what businesses need to do to have an apprentice.

Registration for the seminar is at 2pm with the event ending at 5pm, after networking opportunities.
