Winners from Brixham, Paignton and Torquay have been chosen for the Torbay Love Your High Street Hero Award.

The worthy businesses that will receive the award are Maison et Vie, Peaky Blinders Bar & Grill and The Kind Grind.

Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver said: “It was great to see so many nominations for this award and recognition for the local businesses that provide exceptional customer service day in day out, making our towns a great place to shop. The winners were chosen based on the strength of their anonymous nominations and the contribution they make to the wider community and local economy.

“It is Love Your High Street week this week and by shopping in local retail outlets you can help support and sustain Torbay’s town centres.”

Love your High Street received over 50 nominations, highlighting local people and businesses that really make a difference to shopping experiences in Torbay.

Each shortlisted business will receive a certificate as recognition for their efforts. The runners up were Chocella, Taste, Latitude, Port Espresso from Brixham, Axworthys, Les Fleurs, Paignton Model Shop , Wallis Electricals, from Paignton, and Calypso Coffee, Sandy Toes, Big Bakes Bakery, Fiesta Red, from Torquay.

The winning businesses will receive a glass trophy made by local business Studio 56, which will be presented as part of Torbay’s Love Your High Street week, as well as a certificate and free business support from TDA Business, including a business diagnostic.

Kevin Foster MP, one of the panel members who judge the competition, said: “Judging the High Street hero award was not easy given the great small businesses we have across our bay. All the applicants were of a very high standard. The winners of each town stood out as they make a difference to the bay in unique ways, which is important to ensure we continue to love our high streets.”

Love your High Street week is a campaign delivered by TDA which encourages local people to shop on their local high street and helps spread the message about why spending locally is so important.
