30th August 2016

Categories: Latest News

The Pop up Shop is celebrated its first birthday last Saturday on 27 August, with a speical birthday party to mark its year on Torquay's high street.

To date, Pop up the High Street has given over 30 retailers the opportunity try out managing their own retail space with many of them attending the birthday bash to reflect on the shop's achievements to date. As with any good party, there was also plenty of cake!

Jacqueline Viney of NoBoJacs has been a regular retailer at the shop since it opened last year. “The Pop Up Shop has helped me find the right direction for my business – the combination of business support from my Advisor and testing the market in the shop has helped me find the right pathway.  During my time in the shop I have made great business connections that will help my business.  It has boosted my confidence in myself, my business and my products.”

Vikki Ellis from Shute Lane also attended the party.“I launched Shute Lane as a business on my first day of trading at the Pop Up Shop.  Without the opportunity I would never have got it off the ground.  The shop’s birthday celebration coincided with Shute Lane’s last day.  Although week on week we had a 50% increase in sales on the last day we saw an all time high in sales, resulting in a record week, which was fantastic.”

Pop up the High Street, which is located in Union Street Torquay, offers independent retailers in Torbay the chance to experience life on the high street for just £30 a week. This provides home businesses or companies with an online presence the opportunity to have a 'real world' physical retail space, without the expensive overheads or risk.

You can still apply to become a retailer at the Pop up Shop. Email Liz Edwards or call 07771 974565 for more details.
