New investment opportunity for Torbay waterpark

The waterpark at Goodrington Sands, Paignton, is available to lease under a tender to prospective operators.

This site is one of the English Riviera’s top visitor attractions, which sits in a prime location in one of the country’s premier holiday destinations.

Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “Torbay has some superb attractions which are enjoyed by residents and holiday makers throughout the year. This outdoor waterpark is a fantastic facility that enjoys a wealth of visitors, often enjoying a great day out at our popular British seaside destination.

“The investment opportunity that this site offers is huge. With additional open space possibly available and an established restaurant and Go-Kart track, this water based leisure attraction proves an exciting development prospect for forward thinking businesses across the country.”

Torbay experiences annual visitor nights of around 4.3million, a total visitor related spend of £423 million and a resident population in excess of 130,000.

The property and site includes an outdoor waterpark, a beach shop, restaurant, takeaway outlets, offices, a large sun terrace and a large tarmaced surface area and Go-Kart Track site.

Rental offers for a maximum of a 40 year lease are sought from an experienced, water based, leisure attraction operator willing to invest, develop and operate a high quality, leisure attraction facility from this site.

Liam Montgomery, Head of Asset Management and Housing, said: “Torbay Council and TDA are working hard with both public sector and private sector partners to bring forward regeneration projects in Torbay. This will further enhance the competitiveness of the region and provide exciting investment and expansion opportunities.”

The site sits in the UNESCO recognised English Riviera Global Geopark, which is attracting international recognition for the beauty of Torbay and its geological heritage.

Goodrington offers holiday goers a memorable day trip to the seaside including a brilliant sandy beach, with rockpools at low tide to explore.

This tender is being run as a 2 Stage process; Stage One tenders must be submitted in accordance with the criteria set out in the tender documents and are to be received no later than noon on Monday 21 March 2016.

The waterpark will remain operational and will be open for the 2016 season, building on its success of recent years.
