Four companies, Alpha Contract Engineering Ltd, Eltek Semiconductors Ltd, Plessey, and Rydon Technology, each achieved their objectives from the trade mission to Germany, arranged by TDA.

The SMT Hybrid Packaging conference and exhibition in Nuremburg gave the companies the opportunity to network with clients and suppliers to cement future opportunities for the hi tech industry in Torbay.

TDA’s Business Advisor, Wayne Loschi, who led the trade mission, said: “While travelling to Germany the businesses discussed their experiences of different technologies and their current products, suppliers and clients. It was fantastic to see the local businesses working collaboratively to realise the potential of the trade mission.”

The trip enabled the companies to update their contacts, while gaining new ones and refreshing existing contacts, face to face. The companies also identified worldwide products that have a place in the UK market.

The chance to see the latest equipment and technologies being used in the electronics industry highlighted the progression and investment taking place today. The team identified potential suppliers for the Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC), a project that will integrate Torbay’s hi tech businesses within a state of the art environment in Paignton in 2016.

Mark Kenny, Managing Director of Rydon Technology, said: “The trade mission to the SMT Exhibition has allowed Rydon Technology to work on an equal footing with many of the world’s best supply chain manufacturers, all in one place. The technology on show not only helps to solve today’s production needs but also shines a light on how to build relationships to solve tomorrow’s changing needs.”
Glenn George, Director of Alpha Contract Engineering, added: “This was a worthwhile trip for us and a great success. It has given us great opportunities to strengthen existing contacts and make many new network opportunities as well as being able to see the cutting edge equipment and technologies that suppliers have to offer.”

Following the success of the trip, future trade missions to similar exhibitions will be developed by TDA Business Services.
