R&R Construction takes on more workers

Primarily covering South Devon, R & R Construction and R & R Scaffolding, based at Brixham Sea Works, are now so busy Richard is looking to take on another couple of people to cope with the work.

Having been let down by scaffolding companies on numerous occasions, Richard Gardner decided to expand his construction business and set up a scaffolding company.

Richard said: “At the moment there are ten of us, with three on the scaffolding side. We always have three big jobs on the go and are looking to take on another two people.

“I was let down with scaffolding so I decided to buy some and focus on being reliable. To begin with we just intended to do the scaffolding for ourselves but the phone kept ringing from members of the public wanting scaffolding. Most of our customers are repeat business and recommendations from customers. Whether it’s a large or small job doesn’t matter, what is important is making sure our customers are happy. We make sure we are there when we say we will be.”

The company is a member of the Federation of Master Builders and has a fully-equipped and multi-skilled team. Work varies from extensions and loft-conversions to kitchen fitting and bathroom installations or even small plastering jobs. Projects include work on the Brixham town hall for Brixham Town Council and at Brixham Theatre.

Richard added: “We’re a multi-trades company with plumbers, electricians and plasterers. We’re able to do the whole lot rather than customers searching around for different trades people. We’re here to help and will work around the customer whenever they need the work doing.”

Richard explained that being based in Brixham means a lot to him and the company.

“We try to help Brixham as much as we can with fundraisers and sponsorship. We were looking for an office and someone suggested The Works. I saw the office and wanted to move in straight away.”

“The quality of the facilities is very good and it’s right in the town centre, I couldn’t believe my luck. There’s a great atmosphere and I highly recommend it to anyone else.”

Brixham Sea Works is operated by South West Business Centres, whose manager, Adrian Sheen, said: “Most businesses strive to get repeat business and word of mouth recommendations and Richard seems to have achieved this very successfully. To be able to carry out a range of building jobs and offer a variety of trades makes life a lot easier for clients which they seem to appreciate.”

“Brixham Sea Works is obviously proving a great base for Richard and helping his business to grow and take on more workers. I hope he continues to be successful.”
