Andrew draws on his experiences with his new business

A Wilson Accounting Services was incorporated in January and business is already going well, using Brixham Sea Works as a base.

Having completed the sale of a regional property management business in December, Andrew Wilson hasn’t hung around. Just three months on, he is now fully qualified in accountancy and tax and has a new business set up.

Andrew is able to draw on his own experiences of successfully growing and selling businesses to pass on advice to clients.

Andrew said: “My previous company showed strong growth over a number of years and was then split into three regional offices, with each one eventually sold off as a separate business. I had to separate all of the processes and to completely systemise the businesses over a three-year period, fully documenting everything we did.

“The prospective buyers wanted a business which didn’t revolve around me. My goal is to have a group of similar clients who want to grow and develop their own businesses successfully and to achieve their financial goals.”

A Wilson Accounting Services is not a standard accounting practice, instead Andrew will act as a business consultant helping a company owner to achieve their ambitions, looking at their financial and business goals and working out a structured plan so these can be achieved.

Focusing on SMEs, Mr Wilson will add value to a client but will also enable them to make savings and enhance their income.

Andrew added: “I made mistakes in the early stages of operating my own business and learnt every day. I can pass on the benefits of my knowledge and I have memberships with various accredited bodies. These include the Association of Accounting Technicians, Association of Taxation Technicians and national Accounting Specialists AVN. This gives me access to a range of experts to provide a valued second opinion.

Andrew can provide a structured plan with monthly and weekly tasks, to ensure every box is ticked for any owners thinking of selling their business.

He praised the facilities on offer at Brixham Sea Works, saying: “It’s a great place for meetings. The offices have been finished to a very high standard and I’m very happy to bring clients here.”

Brixham Sea Works is operated by South West Business Centres, whose manager, Adrian Sheen, said: “Andrew certainly has the experience to pass on to small businesses and help them grow. Putting the right processes in place is very important if a business owner wants to sell and Andrew will aim to add value with his advice.”

“Small business owners can often feel isolated if they work from home. Brixham Sea Works was developed by Torbay Council to provide flexible office space for these businesses and provides an excellent base.”
