At Cockington Tea Rooms we pride ourselves on giving an excellent customer experience so that our customers return again and again. We are now set to develop and grow our business and are recruiting for three key permanent posts and one seasonal post:


Food and Beverage Manager
circa £18,000 - £20,000. 35 hours a week all year round.

You will report to the Centre Director, Cockington Court. You will be responsible for professionally managing the tea rooms on a day to day basis, leading and managing a team of food and beverage staff to deliver high standards, meeting sales targets and budgets, stock management, accurate reporting  to finance on sales, purchases and staffing hours/costs, due diligence, health and safety, maximising on sales opportunities and organising and providing high end catering for events such as weddings. You will have previous experience of working within a café or catering environment, managing a team and a good understanding of the financial aspects of running a catering business.

Senior Food and Beverage Assistant (Front of House)
£8.50 per hour - 35 hours a week in Summer, 15 hours a week in Winter. Additional hours may be available according to the requirements of the business.

You will report to the Food and Beverage Manager and be responsible for supervising a team of Food and Beverage Assistants. You will manage staff rotas to ensure appropriate cover, assist with recruiting and training new staff and order stock as necessary. You will ensure all customers have an excellent experience whilst visiting the tea rooms. You will be trained to deputise for the Food and Beverage Manager in their absence.

Senior Food and Beverage Assistant (Kitchen)
£8.50 per hour - 35 hours a week in Summer, 15 hours a week in Winter. Additional hours may be available according to the requirements of the business.

You will report to the Food and Beverage Manager and be responsible for provision of a high end food offering to our customers. You will prepare and cook food items on a daily basis. You will have experience of working in a kitchen and controlling costs to maximise profit. Ideally you will have experience of providing  catering for  weddings and other events

Seasonal Food and Beverage Staff
(weekends, bank holidays, May half term and Summer holidays)

Rate of pay:

  • £7.50 per hour aged over 25
  • £7.05 per hour aged 21-24
  • £5.60 per hour aged 18-20

Cockington Court Tea Rooms are recruiting for seasonal food and beverage staff to work in our front of house and/or kitchen. You will provide a table service in the tea rooms and/or prepare food in the kitchen. You will have previous work experience including customer care, ideally gained in the hospitality industry. You will need to be 18 or over to comply with our licence to serve alcohol.
